Taco Bell's Bandvan was born out of a simple promise, support the music community and they'll support us back. Start with the bands, and the fans and critics will follow.
SXSW has become a pretty challenging place for bands to perform and get noticed. With hundreds upon hundreds of bands descending on Austin for the festival, it's hard to draw a crowd, let alone get around. We created the Bandvan so that bands in Austin could simply tweet at Taco Bell and ask for a band to pick them up and take them to their next gig. Once they got in the van, we gave them a stage. We partnered with the preeminent indie music blog La Blogothèque to put on a show that would be distributed through their channels and Taco Bell's to build hype for the band.
